Course Contents


This is an ideal course for those who want to get an introduction to Linux OS platform in relation to Oracle DBA. This course explains about Linux, how its different from Windows and how to manage Oracle on Linux. This course covers the following topics:

  • Introduction to Linux: Understand the fundamentals of Linux which includes common commands & tool, Linux filesystem, differ distributions of Linux and supported distribution for Oracle.
  • Basic Shell scripting
  • Making Linux "Oracle Ready": Understand the pre-requisites for installing Oracle which includes kernel parameters, RPMs, filesystem requirements, users/groups and environment variables.
  • Installation of Oracle Software which includes creating an Oracle database
  • Managing Oracle on Linux: Understand Linux boot sequence, Starting up & shutting down database and configuring autostart of Oracle instance.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting Oracle on Linux: Different Linux & Oracle components to be monitored and using tools like OSWatcher.
  • Automate routing DBA activities using cronjob
  • Useful resources & next steps

Training Methodology


This training will be through live online class with voice & presentation. Please refer to our section How-it-works to know more about the training methodology.

At the end of a chapter there are lab exercises that a participant need to complete. For these lab excercises, participants will be provided access to an Oracle Database Server. This Oracle Server will be available to you 24 hours a day for the entire duration of your course.

There will be a maximum of only 5 participants per batch.

Training Duration


The total training duration is 16 hours divided in 4 sessions with 3 hours of theory and 1 hour of guided practical per session..

At the end of the each theory session, you are expected to finish all the lab exercises before next session.  

If required, at the end of the course, each participant can have dedicated one-on-one session of 2 hours with the instructor for clarifying any doubt or asking any questions.
